Lucas; My Personal Story

As an author and survivor, my life is a story of resilience and reinvention. I’m Christopher Lucas, and my journey began in 1969, born to a Jamaican father and a British mother. My early years were a whirlwind of change, marked by my mother’s departure and my time in a bustling foster home under the loving care of the Collier family in Manchester. Growing up, I embraced life’s adventures and challenges, from vibrant family dynamics to overcoming racial barriers.

My life took a dramatic turn in 2003. A snowboarding mishap in the French Alps led to the discovery of a brain tumor, a revelation that redefined my life. Facing this daunting challenge, I discovered an inner strength and a determination to live life to the fullest. Despite the fears and the uncertainties, I emerged with a renewed zest for life.

Today, as an author, I share my story to inspire others. My book, “Invictus,” is not just my tale but a message of hope and strength. It’s a reminder that life’s adversities don’t define us; it’s how we respond to them that shapes our legacy. Through my writing, I aim to empower and uplift, to show that even in the face of the greatest challenges, the human spirit remains unconquerable.

My books are not just stories; they are my declaration of independence from the confining, one-size-fits-all mentality of care corporations. Writing these narratives is my path to freedom, my way of stepping out of the box that society often tries to place those with disabilities in. Each book is a bold statement against being treated like a prisoner due to my disability.

“Against All Odds: Never Give Up on Your Dreams” and my other works embody this spirit. They narrate the life of Chris, a character who, despite physical challenges and societal constraints, pursues his dreams with unwavering determination. Through Chris’s journey, from the sun-kissed streets of Florida to the vastness of space, I explore themes of resilience, hope, and the triumph of the human spirit.

These stories are more than fiction; they are a reflection of my desire to live fully, to enjoy my remaining years on this planet with dignity and autonomy. My writing is an act of defiance against the limitations imposed by others and a celebration of the possibilities that life holds, regardless of circumstances. Help me on this journey of empowerment and inspiration, as i try and break free from constraints and soar towards my dreams.

I really do think that every single person, ether disabled or albled bodied, needs to go out and do as much as possible. Make as many memories as you can. We’ve only got a limited time on this planet. Try and achieve as much as you can.
